A well known British scholar-economist and politician Lord Robert Skidelsky became General consultant-advisor to Investor Protection Association (IPA). The main goal of mister Skidelsky at this post will be to enhance IPA cooperation with global institutional investors and to assist in attracting investments into Russia’s economy.
Since 2001 Robert Skidelsky is a member of Janus Capital Inc. investment company (former Stilwell Financial Inc.) board of directors, which is among top five companies, managing mutual investment funds in the USA. Group assets are estimated to be at $150 bln.. Lord Skidelsky is acknowledged in the West expert on Russia’s economy Ðîññèè and a member of English-Russian Parliamentary group.
Mister Skidelsky highly appreciated IPA efforts on protection of investors’ rights in Russia, on propagation of principles and rules of effective corporate governance and improvement of russian investment climate on the whole.
According to Sergei Generalov, IPA Chairman of the Board, participation of Robert Skidelsky in Association activities at present is of utmost importance. « The Association starts interaction with largest world investment institutes, accumulating resources of insurance and pension funds, which are not yet working in Russia. These investors have an understanding of good perspectives for them in Russia, and are waiting for the country to receive the traditional investment rating. By our estimates, this might happen in the nearest future. But the investors need to understand the ways to provide security of their investments in Russia, which mechanisms are already created, and how they are working out… And we ought to help them in this».
Lord Robert Skidelsky was born in 1939 . He graduated from Brighton College, then continued education at Jesus College in Oxford. He worked at a number of research centres of the USA and Great Britain, including Warwick University, John Hopkins University in Washington and London School of Economics.
Since 1991 he is a member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament.
At present he is a professor at Warwick University, the founder and Chairman of the Centre for Global Studies, author of numerous books and publications, including many-prized three-volume work on John Keynes («John Maynard Keynes»). Since 1998 – member of Supervision Board of Moscow School of Political Studies.
